Brussels, Belgium - August 21, 2006

The white sepulchral city of The Heart of Darkness, at least as it was according to Joseph Conrad. Brussels was supposed to be a simple (and short) pitstop on the way to Amsterdam but the Belgian capital ended up having a lot more in store for me than I could have ever imagined. Maybe it was the beer, fries (as in French but invented in Belgium), waffles or chocolates but whatever it was, it extended by stay from an afternoon to two days. See below for some of the aforementioned delights and a view of the historic city centre.

Brussels: Day 1.
