Schloss Nymphenburg - July 27, 2006

A posing swan introduces us to Schloss Nymphenburg - one of the many castle-playgrounds of the kings of Bavaria. This one was built by King Ludwig I and was so named because the king invited many a beautiful lady to this residence which was built to celebrate beauty. Ladies of both high and low society were permitted as long as their beauty was considered extraordinary and many were painted at the king's behest by the area's artists.

A residence forming part of the circular wall of the schloss.

The palatial centre amidst a downpour.
The rear of the palace and the grand stair faces the elabourate canal and gardens.

The garden and canal defies distance, stretching as far as the eye can see.

Part of the path is lined with statues in greek fashion. Here a flower stretches toward the sun which has re-emerged following the rain.
The reflection and clouds makes this shot look more like a painting than a photograph.

The place for a perfect stroll.

As if it wasn't green enough before, take another look. Some experimentation with the new camera turns out well in this shot.

Some more camera fun at the Schloss Nymphenburg gardens:

And lastly, Jason with the nymphs of Schloss Nymphenburg.
(blame the photographer for this over-exposed shot)

Wow, the castles are so beautiful they almost look fake. I'm definitely envious of your trip. But it's time to get to the good part. Where's the story about the women, the German beer, and the lawn mower.
